 What is Alcohol?

Simply putting alcohol is ingredient found in beer, wine, and other spirit which cause the state of drunkenness. Alcohol is referred as Ethanol (ethyl alcohol), which is mainly used as drug. Alcohol is classed as a ‘sedative hypnotic’ drug, as alcohol is a drug, it can be additive and toxic. 

At lower doses, alcohol can act as a stimulant, inducing feelings of euphoria and talkativeness, but drinking too much alcohol at one session can lead to drowsiness, respiratory depression (where breathing becomes slow, shallow or stops entirely), coma or even death.As well as its acute and potentially lethal sedative effect at high doses, alcohol has effects on every organ in the body and these effects depend on the blood alcohol concentration (BAC) over time.

What is Rubbing Alcohol?

Rubbing alcohol is either isopropyl alcohol or ethanol which is basically found in liquid form or jelly form. Even if rubbing alcohol are ethanol based, they are not drinkable as they are used for disinfecting wounds or simply used as disinfect. 

Nowadays, rubbing alcohol are famous as hand sanitizer. However, rubbing alcohol are commonly used in the hospitals for surgery and disinfecting equipment. 

Even though rubbing alcohol is not drinkable, they are flammable, so it should be handled with care. Consuming  small amount of rubbing alcohol is not harmful, however if you have it in high amount than you should go to the ER. 

What is Ethyl Alcohol (Ethanol)?

Ethyl alcohol (Ethanol) is chemical compound which forms alcohol. Ethanol is also called Ethyl alcohol, grain alcohol. Ethyl alcohol is colorless, order less liquid which is the main ingredient in beer, wine and other spirit. 

As ethyl alcohol is easily dissolve in water and other compound, it can vastly used in other product then alcohol like beauty product, disinfecting products, paints and fuel.

Ethyl alcohol is made in one of two ways: naturally, through the process of fermentation, or synthetically, beginning with compounds found in petroleum. Usually natural process is used to make drinkable beverage like beer, wine and spirits whereas synthetic process is used to make non drinkable products like paints and beauty products.

 

What is Sugar Alcohol?

Sugar alcohol are organic compound, derived from sugar. Sugar alcohol are neither sweet nor alcoholic as they don't contain ethanol to form alcohol. They are white, water-soluble solids that can occur naturally or be produced industrially by hydrogenation of sugars.

Many foods labeled "sugar free" or "no sugar added" have sugar alcohols in them. You might see these names on the ingredient list:

• Erythritol
• Maltitol
• Mannitol
• Sorbitol
• Xylitol
• Hydrogenated starch hydrolysates (HSH)
• Isomalt.
